Vancouver man helps save rickshaw riders in Egypt after fire breaks out  | 24CA News

A B.C. couple visiting Egypt not too long ago jumped into motion to assist two younger males in an auto-rickshaw.

Bassem Ghabrous and his spouse moved to Canada seven years in the past so she may full her PhD on the University of British Columbia.

However, they not too long ago returned to Egypt to go to household and Ghabrous’ mother.

Just this previous weekend the couple was in Cairo and driving dwelling round 11 p.m. after they turned a nook and noticed a rickshaw going up the ramp.

That’s when Ghabrous mentioned he observed a fireplace in the back of the automobile.

“It was on fire, and they couldn’t, they’re just going fast and probably it just started,” Ghabrous mentioned.

“They couldn’t notice it. And then there was a car driving by and he was trying to warn them.”

Ghabrous mentioned he was behind the rickshaw honking the horn.

“They didn’t notice it because the fire was in the back and the engine was in the back,” he mentioned.
