‘Need is even greater’: Fundraising events being held in B.C. for Ukraine – BC | 24CA News
Two fundraising occasions are being held in B.C. to lift cash for Ukraine.
One is a live performance and the opposite a night of actions. Both are organized by the Maple Hope Foundation, with one on Saturday in Victoria and the opposite on Sunday in Vancouver.
The Maple Hope Foundation was created in 2014 by Svitlana Kominko in response to Russian aggression in Crimea.
“Ten years later, the need is even greater,’ she said.
“What Putin has done in two years is unimaginable … the entire (Ukrainian) population is traumatized.”
The live performance on Saturday will probably be on the Ukrainian Cultural Centre on Douglas Street in Victoria, beginning at 5 p.m.
On Sunday, the muse’s Decade of Hope occasion is being held on the Vancouver Club on West Hastings Street.
The Decade of Hope occasion will characteristic dinner, leisure, a reside public sale and reside music.
One of the audio system on the Vancouver occasion is Ukrainian Oksana Gurska.
She stated her husband has been taken captive and is a prisoner of conflict now in Russia. She stated he was defending the town of Mariupol for 86 days earlier than he was captured.
Gurska has written a guide of tales and poetry People From Steel, which might be bought by way of the Maple Hope Foundation.
“All money raised from this book will go towards supporting Ukrainian children, and prisoners of war and their rehabilitation,” she informed Global News by way of a translator.
