Work on releasing a second group of Israeli and international hostages from Gaza was going forward, Israel’s chief army spokesperson mentioned on Saturday, after a short holdup appeared to have been resolved with the assistance of Qatari negotiators.
“The effort tonight is advancing,” Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari instructed a daily briefing.
The armed wing of the Palestinian militant group Hamas mentioned on Saturday that it had determined to delay the second spherical of hostage releases till Israel is dedicated to letting support vehicles enter northern Gaza.
Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades added that the hostage releases could be delayed if Israel didn’t adhere to the agreed phrases for the discharge of Palestinian prisoners.
In response, an Israeli army spokesperson instructed French tv channel BFM that Israel totally revered the truce.
Osama Hamdan, the Hamas consultant in Lebanon, instructed the Lebanon-based Al Mayadeen TV channel that the suspension was on account of violations of the truce dedicated by Israel “linked to aid (entering Gaza), in addition to shootings and the rising death toll… Some of (these violations) happened yesterday, and repeated today,” Hamdan mentioned.
There was no speedy remark from the ICRC on whether or not the discharge of hostages and detainees had been delayed.
