Facebook and Instagram experiencing outage

Social media websites Facebook, Instagram, Threads and Messenger, owned by tech large Meta, are experiencing an outage Tuesday.

Some customers reported being routinely logged out from Facebook and two-factor authentication to log again in can be down.

On Instagram, news feeds are loading and refreshing, however feedback and different interactions are unavailable.

Internet visitors observer Down Detector is reporting huge outages on the Meta platforms. The issues are being reported internationally, suggesting that the issue might be world.

London-based web monitoring agency Netblocks stated on X that 4 Meta platforms — Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Threads — had been “currently experiencing outages related to login sessions in multiple countries.”

But the agency, which advocates for web freedom, stated there was no signal of “country-level internet disruptions or filtering,” that are sometimes imposed by governments.

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone took to X, previously Twitter to say the corporate is conscious of the issue.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp, which can be owned by Meta, didn’t look like experiencing issues.

Cybersecurity skilled Matthew Green stated the outage seems to transcend Meta.

“There are a number of services having trouble with at least parts of their systems, particularly the ability to log into websites,” stated Green, an affiliate professor of laptop science and member of the Johns Hopkins University Information Security Institute.

“This may indicate a common cause, like a failure at a major cloud services provider. At the moment nobody knows exactly what’s happening.”

X referenced the outage acknowledging potential elevated visitors on the platform.
