Striking grocery workers’ union reaches tentative deal with Metro
Metro says that it has reached a tentative take care of the union representing hanging workers at 27 grocery shops across the Greater Toronto Area.
“The agreement, which is fair an equitable for our employees and our customers, is unanimously recommended by the union’s bargaining committee and will put an end to the labour dispute if ratified,” the corporate mentioned in a press release Wednesday morning.
The tentative deal will likely be submitted to the workers, who’re represented by UNIFOR, for a ratification vote that can happen “shortly,” the corporate mentioned.
More than 3,700 staff at shops across the GTA have been on strike since July 29.
Some of the employees have mentioned that their wages have meant they’ll barely afford to purchase the meals being offered within the shops the place they work.
More to come back…
