Canada posted a merchandise commerce deficit of $160 million in December as each exports and imports fell in contrast with November, Statistics Canada mentioned Tuesday.

In quantity phrases, whole exports in December rose 0.9 per cent, whereas import volumes fell 1.9 per cent.


Statistics Canada mentioned Canada’s commerce deficit with nations aside from the U.S. was $7.1 billion in December in contrast with $7.3 billion in November as imports from nations aside from the U.S. fell 3.8 per cent, however exports to those self same nations dropped 4.5 per cent.


Meanwhile, Canada’s merchandise commerce surplus with the U.S. was $7.0 billion in December in contrast with $7.1 billion in November as exports to the U.S. fell 0.1 per cent and imports rose 0.2 per cent.
