Federal minimum wage rising to $16.65 per hour on April 1
OTTAWA –
The federal minimal wage is rising to $16.65 per hour on April 1, up from $15.55.
The authorities says the rise relies on the patron value index, which rose 6.8 per cent in 2022.
The federal minimal wage applies to the federally regulated non-public sectors, together with banks, postal and courier companies, and interprovincial air, rail, street, and marine transportation.
Ottawa set a federal minimal wage of $15 per hour in 2021 and will increase it annually based mostly on inflation.
The adjustments are made yearly on April 1.
Where the provincial or territorial minimal wage fee is larger than the federal fee, employers should apply the upper quantity.
