Transparency and accountability shall be key pillars in our strategy as we lead this new period of change for Hockey Canada. As context, Hockey Canada’s investigation and adjudication course of consists of three phases: an investigation stage, an adjudication stage, and an enchantment stage. The investigation is performed by an unbiased, arm’s-length investigator. Likewise, the adjudication panel that determines what sanction, if any, to impose on a respondent to a criticism is performed at arm’s size from Hockey Canada. That panel consists of two retired Judges and a senior lawyer. If there may be an enchantment from an adjudication choice, the enchantment panel additionally operates at arm’s size from Hockey Canada.

The unbiased investigation of the 2018 incident is now full, and the investigator has delivered its report back to the adjudication panel. The panel is continuing in an in digital camera (confidential) course of. As this proceeds, all data regarding the contents of the investigator’s report, the adjudication, and any enchantment are held within the strictest confidence.

Another purpose for making certain confidentiality is that we don’t need to jeopardize the continuing investigation of the London Police Service. Hockey Canada is cooperating with the authorities, and our unbiased investigator has complied totally.

While acknowledging that it can’t change what occurred previously, the Hockey Canada Board of Directors needs to emphasise our dedication to being clear, addressing what occurred in 2018, and to bringing about optimistic change inside our group to the advantage of all Canadians.
