Union Berlin signs David Datro Fofana on loan from Chelsea for next season
BERLIN — Union Berlin bolstered its Champions League preparations on Tuesday by signing Ivorian ahead David Datro Fofana from Chelsea on mortgage for subsequent season.
The 20-year-old Fofana hardly ever performed for Chelsea after the English Premier League membership signed him for a reported payment of round 12 million euros ($13.1 million) from Norwegian crew Molde FK in January. He made solely three quick league appearances for Chelsea.

Union hopes to offer him extra possibilities to shine within the Bundesliga.
“David’s speed and his flexible offensive qualities are highly interesting for us,” Union sporting director Oliver Ruhnert stated. “We want another goal-scoring player who will give our attacking game additional impetus.”
Fofana is Ruhnert’s second signing in three days from English golf equipment following United States midfielder Brenden Aaronson’s arrival on mortgage from Leeds on Sunday.
Union, which was promoted to the Bundesliga for the primary time solely in 2019, completed fourth within the league final season to clinch Champions League qualification for the primary time. It will play its European video games at Olympiastadion, a venue historically utilized by metropolis rival Hertha Berlin. Hertha was relegated from the Bundesliga final season.
