Toronto FC hires Jason Hernandez as new general manager

Toronto FC has a brand new basic supervisor.

The membership promoted former defender Jason Hernandez to the position on Tuesday.

The 2023-24 season shall be Hernandez’s fifth with TFC’s entrance workplace. The 39-year-old was first employed as a supervisor of participant engagement after his retirement in 2019 and has spent the previous two seasons with the staff as an assistant basic supervisor.

Hernandez performed two of his 14-year MLS profession in Toronto, serving to the membership take dwelling the MLS Cup, the Supporters’ Shield and the Canadian Championship. Before signing with TFC in 2017, Hernandez was chosen sixth total by the MetroStars within the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft and performed eight seasons with the San Jose Earthquakes.

“I’ve seen first-hand Jason’s transition from playing at TFC to joining the front office,” stated the membership’s President, Bill Manning, in a staff launch. “His growth as an executive has been exceptional, and he is ready for this next step in his career. Jason is very knowledgeable of MLS and is well respected around the league. I believe his future is bright with TFC.”

The staff fired coach and sporting director Bob Bradley on Monday. Toronto’s earlier basic supervisor, Ali Curtis, left the membership in Nov. 2021 to take up the senior vice-president of competitors and operations position for MLS NEXT Pro.
