Dortmund signs defender Mats Hummels to one-year contract extension
DORTMUND, Germany (AP) — German league chief Borussia Dortmund signed defender Mats Hummels to a one-year contract extension Wednesday forward of a recreation which may see the membership finish Bayern Munich’s decade-long title reign.
Hummels’ contract with Dortmund was attributable to finish June 30. The 34-year-old Hummels is now contracted till the tip of subsequent season.
“I didn’t make the decision easy for myself. There was a long weighing-up process,” Hummels stated in a membership assertion. “Now, on the finish of the season, I can say: I’m nonetheless actually up for an additional 12 months.”
Hummels has performed 37 video games for Dortmund this season and has often captained the group rather than Marco Reus. A win over Mainz on Saturday would convey Dortmund its first German title since 2012.
