Canadian Premier League player Amla suspended two years for anti-doping violation

OTTAWA — Halifax Wanderers striker Ludwig Amla has acquired a two-year sanction for an anti-doping rule violation.

A urine pattern collected Sept. 10, 2022, contained terbutaline, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) stated Wednesday in a press release.

Terbutaline is used medically to stop and deal with wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness attributable to bronchial asthma, continual bronchitis and emphysema.

It is on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s record of prohibited substances.
