Canada Soccer not consulted on U.S.-Mexico bid for 2027 Women’s World Cup
Canada Soccer says it was not consulted concerning the joint bid by the U.S. and Mexico to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
The U.S. Soccer Federation and Mexico Football Federation introduced their intention to bid on Wednesday evening, the deadline set by FIFA for expressions of curiosity.
“We wish our close neighbours the best of luck in their bid to host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup,” Canada Soccer stated in a press release Thursday. “Given we have been latest hosts (in 2015), Canada Soccer has not been a part of these conversations and was by no means put able to say no a co-hosting alternative.
“If the U.S. Soccer and the Mexican Federation bid is profitable, it might be Mexico’s first time internet hosting a Women’s World Cup, and we’re in full assist.
Bid agreements are due by May 19 and official bids by Dec. 8. FIFA plans to publish an analysis report in May 2024 forward of a vote by FIFA’s Congress that May 17.
Other bids have come from South Africa and a joint group that includes Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. Brazil’s sports activities minister has stated his nation will increase its hand.
