Brazil picks Elias to replace Sundhage as women’s national team coach

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Corinthians girls’s coach Arthur Elias changed Pia Sundhage because the Brazil girls’s coach on Friday.

Details of the deal weren’t disclosed by the Brazilian Football Confederation.

Soon after, Elias introduced his first nationwide squad for friendlies in September towards rivals who’re but to be introduced.

Sundhage was fired final week after Brazil failed to succeed in the Women’s World Cup knockout stage final month for the primary time since 1995.

Local media reported Elias will coach Brazil via the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

Elias will stay in command of Corinthians for the rest of the season. He arrived on the membership in 2016 and has received 14 trophies, together with nationwide and worldwide accolades.
