“Asia has come a long way, in terms of football. We played Uzbekistan before and year, we are looking to play against them here,” Graham Arnold, Australia’s head coach stated after the draw.

The Soccerroos have spent substantial period of time in Qatar, even earlier than the FIFA World Cup, and confirmed its spot within the event with a penalty-shootout win over Peru within the Inter-continental playoff.

This will likely be India’s fifth look within the AFC Asian Cup, with the Blue Tigers having participated on the continental stage in 1964, 1984, 2011, and 2019 beforehand.

Their greatest end in Asia has been a runners-up place within the 1964 version of the competitors.

“There’s great anticipation before the draw. There’s still some time left until the competition itself, and I would say that it is very important, how well we use that time to prepare, rather than concentrate on who our opponents will be,” Igor Stimac was quoted telling the AIFF web site.

“I truly believe in our team and the work that they put in, and with the support of the huge Indian fan base in Qatar, we can achieve our goals,” he added.
