‘We have unfinished business’: Aussie young gun to stay with college basketball powerhouse

Australian younger gun Tyrese Proctor has confirmed he’ll return to varsity basketball powerhouse Duke for a second season.

The teenage sensation had a sluggish begin to his collegiate profession as he averaged 9.3 factors, 3.1 rebounds and three.2 assists per sport in his freshman 12 months with Duke.

However, Proctor discovered type within the latter phases of the season as he scored 16 factors and chalked up six assists within the NCAA event defeat to Tennessee in addition to a double-double towards Pittsburgh within the ACC event.

Now that he’s signed up for one more 12 months with the Blue Devils, Proctor has a golden probability to spice up his shares for the 2024 NBA Draft.

“This is the best decision for my career, both present and future,” Proctor instructed ESPN.

“Coach [Jon] Scheyer and I share the same vision; we have unfinished business. We have the best staff in the country, and they will push me each and every day.”

Proctor can have various contemporary faces as teammates within the 2023/24 season at Duke as they await the arrival of a recruitment class rated No. 2 within the United States, with 5 of the highest 31 gamers in 2023 linking up with the Blue Devils.

And the Aussie can’t wait to get to work together with his new teammates.

“It’s all about winning, and that starts this summer,” Proctor mentioned.

“Having a full off-season on campus will be extremely valuable for my continued development, and I am looking forward to leading our talented incoming class.”

Despite the sturdy recruitment class, Duke coaches will likely be salivating on the prospect of getting Proctor on their books for one more season.

Last 12 months, ESPN’s Jonathon Givony wrote that the Blue Devils noticed the Aussie teen as “their best player” and “biggest surprise”.

And Brendan Marks, who covers Duke and North Carolina basketball for The Athletic, instructed foxsports.com.au that he expects a number of NBA groups to have an interest within the Australian.

“The fact that he has made this impact so quickly I think speaks really highly of him,” Marks mentioned.

“He is an NBA player through and through. Teams I think, by the time it comes around for drafting him, they’re going to be fighting for his services.”
