The Blue Jays had acquired Luplow off waivers from the Atlanta Braves on April 5. The 29-year-old slashed .214/.353/.567 with a single RBI over seven appearances with the Blue Jays.
The workforce designated Luplow for project on Tuesday to make room on the 40-man roster after buying shortstop Paul DeJong on the commerce deadline.
Right-handed pitcher Mitch White, who was designated for project to make room for the newly acquired Jordan Hicks, cleared waivers and has been assigned to Triple-A Buffalo.
