The Chicago Cubs have agreed to signal outfielder Cody Bellinger to a one-year $17.5 million contract, per the New York Post‘s Jon Heyman and ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Bellinger gained the 2017 NL Rookie of the Year award and the 2019 NL MVP with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 27-year-old has spent all six of his years within the majors with the Dodgers and have become a free agent after the staff rejected to tender his contract for 2023.

In 2022, Bellinger hit .210 with 19 house runs and 68 RBI — he additionally stole 14 bases.

The two-time all-star suffered a drop-off in manufacturing after his MVP season. In 295 video games between 2020 and 2022, he had .648 OPS — down from .928 in his first three years.
