Report: Whitt to return as Canada’s manager at 2023 World Baseball Classic

Former Blue Jays catcher Ernie Whitt will handle Team Canada for the fifth time on the 2023 World Baseball Classic, per MLB Network‘s Jon Morosi.

Whitt would be the solely supervisor to carry that title via all 5 of the tournaments.

The 70-year-old spent 15 years within the majors as a catcher, with 12 of these coming with the Blue Jays. He additionally frolicked as a member of the Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles.

In addition to managing Canada at all the World Baseball Classics, Whitt managed the nationwide crew on the 2004 Summer Olympics and received two gold medals on the Pan Am Games in 2011 and 2015.

Canada has an all-time 3-8 file via the primary 4 classics and went 0-3 in the latest iteration.
