Report: RHP Nick Martinez agrees to two-year, M deal with Reds

Right-hander Nick Martinez is heading to the Cincinnati Reds on a two-year, $26-million deal, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported on Thursday.

Martinez opted out of the final two years of his earlier deal, a three-year, $26-million pact with the San Diego Padres, to go to free company.

Martinez, 33, was 6-4 with a 3.43 ERA in 63 video games with the Padres final season — 9 of which had been begins.

The Miami native returned to the majors with the Padres in 2022 after spending 4 years in Japan.

Martinez performed for the Texas Rangers from 2014-17.

In 198 profession major-league appearances (87 begins), Martinez is 27-38 with a 4.31 ERA.
