Report: Michael Lorenzen signs one-year, $4.5M contract with Texas Rangers
Right-hander Michael Lorenzen has agreed to a one-year, $4.5-million take care of the Texas Rangers, The Athletic‘s Ken Rosenthal reported Thursday morning.
The deal contains $2.5 million in incentives and maxes out at $7 million, Rosenthal stated.
Eight days after the Philadelphia Phillies acquired Lorenzen in a take care of the Detroit Tigers final August, he threw a no-hitter in opposition to the Washington Nationals.
But Lorenzen struggled the remainder of the way in which for the Phillies, ending with a 5.51 ERA in 11 appearances.
Lorenzen, 32, was named an All-Star for the primary time final 12 months as a Tiger.
The Anaheim, Calif., native completed the season 9-9 with a 4.18 ERA in a career-high 153 innings.
The Rangers will probably be with out Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer and Tyler Mahle to start the season, so Lorenzen will present them with much-needed innings as that trio works again to full well being.
Texas gained the World Series final season, led by a rotation headlined by Nathan Eovaldi and Jordan Montgomery within the playoffs. Before signing Lorenzen, the Rangers would seemingly have begun the 12 months with Eovaldi, Jon Gray, Andrew Heaney, Dane Dunning and Cody Bradford as its 5 starters.
Lorenzen turned a starter in 2022 along with his hometown Los Angeles Angels after spending the majority of his profession out of the bullpen with the Cincinnati Reds from 2015-21.
In 342 profession appearances (69 begins), Lorenzen is 40-38 with a 4.11 ERA.
