Reds sign Luke Maile to one-year deal
CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Reds vp, common supervisor Nick Krall on Monday introduced the signing of Covington Catholic High School graduate catch Luke Maile to a 1-year contract by the 2023 season.
Maile’s contract shall be price $1.175 million for 2023, with a further $25K doable in efficiency bonuses, a supply instructed MLB.com’s Mark Sheldon. The group has not confirmed the phrases of the deal.
Maile, 31, initially was signed out of the University of Kentucky by the Tampa Bay Rays after he was chosen within the eighth spherical of the June 2012 first-year participant draft.
He made his Major League debut in 2015 and has made 307 profession appearances for the Rays, Blue Jays, Brewers and Guardians. He made all 240 of his begins at catcher.
Maile performed baseball, basketball and golf at Covington Catholic, the place after his senior baseball season he was named Kentucky’s Gatorade Player of the Year. He attended the University of Kentucky, the place as a junior in 2012 he was All-SEC second group and a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award.
His father, Rich, performed soccer on the University of Dayton and the University of Kentucky. His grandfather, Dick, was All-America in basketball at LSU.
