Reds place Canadian Joey Votto on 10-day injured list with shoulder discomfort

PHOENIX (AP) — Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto was positioned on the 10-day injured listing with left shoulder discomfort on Thursday forward of an necessary four-game sequence towards the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Votto, who turns 40 on Sept. 10, didn’t make his season debut till June 19 whereas rehabbing from left shoulder surgical procedure in August 2022, when he had a torn rotator cuff and biceps repaired. Votto missed opening day for the primary time since 2008.

Cincinnati recalled utilityman Nick Senzel from Triple-A Louisville to take Votto’s place on the roster.

The Reds and Diamondbacks are amongst six groups in rivalry for the National League’s three wild-card spots. Cincinnati started the night time within the third wild card place, a half-game forward of San Francisco and Arizona.
