Red Sox DFA Hosmer to make room for new hurler

The Red Sox designated veteran first baseman Eric Hosmer for task on Friday, along with a cope with the Royals so as to add right-hander Wyatt Mills. Boston despatched Minor League righty Jacob Wallace to Kansas City within the commerce.

Hosmer was acquired from the Padres final August on the Trade Deadline in a deal for former first-round decide Jay Groome. As a part of the deal, San Diego had agreed to pay nearly all of the $44 million left on Hosmer’s contract via 2025, leaving Boston merely to pay the league minimal. In 14 video games for the Red Sox, Hosmer hit .244 with 4 RBIs.

In 12 years within the Majors, Hosmer has hit .277 with 196 residence runs for Kansas City, San Diego and Boston.
