Red Sox designate former Blue Jays OF Raimel Tapia for assignment
Former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Raimel Tapia has been designated for project by the Boston Red Sox.
The 29-year-old, who slashed .264/.333/.368 with Boston this season in 39 begins, has performed in all three outfield positions. He went 4-for-13 as a pinch-hitter.
The Domincan left-hander performed final season with the Blue Jays, the place he slashed .265/.292/.380 in 128 video games.
The Red Sox made the transfer to be able to make room for infielder Christian Arroyo, who was coming off the 10-day Injured List.
