Cardinals president John Mozeliak says Nolan Arenado will not be traded

The St. Louis Cardinals have shut down rumours that all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado will probably be traded.

Speaking to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Saturday, Cardinals president John Mozeliak mentioned the crew won’t be buying and selling away Arenado on the deadline.

“I have stated we are not trading him, have not asked him to waive his (no-trade clause),” mentioned Mozeliak. “So at this time, we are working on building future success.”

Arenado, a 10-time Gold Glove winner and eight-time all-star, had been rumoured to be the topic of commerce talks between the Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers.

He addressed the rumours himself on Friday following the Cardinals’ 3-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs.

“I haven’t talked to anybody,” Arenado instructed the media. ”So I don’t know the place these reviews got here from, however when (Mozeliak) comes as much as me and needs to have these conversations — we’ll have them.”

Ahead of this season, Arenado opted into the rest of his five-year, $144 million contract. The 32-year-old is slashing .284/.332/.517 with 22 dwelling runs, 77 RBIs, 48 runs, and two stolen bases over 100 video games in 2023.
