Blue Jays place Romano on 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation

The Toronto Blue Jays have positioned nearer Jordan Romano on the 15-day injured listing on account of proper elbow irritation, the group introduced Saturday.

Romano’s placement on the injured listing is retroactive to May 30.

In a corresponding transfer, the Blue Jays recalled pitcher Brendon Little from triple-A Buffalo. He might be lively for Saturday’s sport towards the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Romano underwent an MRI on Friday that exposed no structural harm, supervisor John Schneider stated Saturday. The right-hander is not going to throw for the subsequent couple days, and he and the group will go from there.

Yimi Garcia will doubtless be the primary closing possibility with Romano sidelined, and Chad Green might get some probabilities as effectively, Schneider added.

In 15 appearances this season, Romano has posted a 6.59 ERA, eight saves and one blown save, 13 strikeouts and a 1-2 report.

The news comes only a day after Toronto positioned beginning pitcher Alek Manoah on the 15-day injured listing with a proper elbow sprain.

Little has posted a 4.15 ERA with 25 strikeouts and an 0-2 report in 16 video games and 17.1 innings pitched with the Bisons this season. He has three appearances on the major-league stage in 2024, registering a ten.8 ERA in 3.1 innings pitched.

Watch the Blue Jays tackle the Pirates Saturday on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, beginning at 3 p.m. ET / midday PT.
