Blue Jays move Espinal to IL, recall Lopez from triple-A Buffalo

The Toronto Blue Jays have moved infielder Santiago Espinal to the 10-day injured record with proper hamstring irritation, retroactive to May 21.

Espinal suffered the harm in Saturday’s loss to the Orioles and needed to be lifted from the sport. He is hitting .205/.266/.274 with one residence run in 25 video games this season.

In place of Espinal, the Blue Jays activated infielder Otto Lopez forward of Monday’s collection opener towards the Tampa Bay Rays. Lopez appeared in eight MLB video games with the Blue Jays final season and can substitute Espinal because the staff’s again up shortstop in the interim.

You can watch Chris Bassitt and the Blue Jays face the Rays Monday night time on Sportsnet ONE and SN NOW starting at 6:40 p.m. ET/ 3:40 p.m. PT.
