Blue Jays' Jose Berrios named AL Pitcher of the Month
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios has been having a career-best begin to the season, and he’s getting the popularity he deserves.
The 29-year-old has been named the American League Pitcher of the Month, the MLB introduced on Friday. Philadelphia Phillies’ Ranger Suarez acquired the nod for the National League.
In seven begins and 43.2 innings up to now this season, Berrios posted a 1.44 ERA with 31 strikeouts, 13 walks and 4 wins. He was named the Blue Jays’ Opening Day starter in March.
Berrios was acquired by the Blue Jays in July 2021 from the Minnesota Twins in change for Austin Martin and Simeon Woods Richardson. He signed a seven-year, $131 million extension in Toronto in November of that 12 months.
