Blue Jays’ Jordan Romano withdraws from Team Italy for World Baseball Classic

Toronto Blue Jays nearer Jordan Romano has withdrawn from Team Italy for subsequent month’s World Baseball Classic, in line with Sportsnet’s Jamie Campbell.

The 29-year-old from Markham, Ont., had a career-high 36 saves final season and was chosen to his first All-Star Game in his fourth 12 months with the Blue Jays.

Romano, whose father is from Italy, opted to pitch for the workforce after that they had reached out to him to affix their bullpen for the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

“I wished to pitch for Canada in 2017 however they didn’t have a spot for me and I used to be in low ‘A’ on the time (coming off Tommy John surgical procedure),” Romano instructed Sportsnet’s Hazel Mae final March. “Italy asked, and I had a great experience … they gave me a shot and I want to be loyal to them.”

The World Baseball Classic is ready to happen March 8-21 forward of the MLB season.
