Bichette lands on injured list with patellar tendinitis

Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette is headed to the injured record with proper patellar tendinitis, the staff introduced on Wednesday. The news comes a day after the Trade Deadline, when Toronto dealt for Paul DeJong from the Cardinals as insurance coverage in case Bichette can be compelled to overlook time. 

Bichette jammed his proper knee making an attempt to placed on the brakes between first and second after sending a hard-hit ball down the right-field line in opposition to the Orioles on Monday. He instantly stopped in his tracks and grabbed his proper knee, limping away in clear ache. Manager John Schneider and a Blue Jays coach checked on Bichette, who walked off the sphere underneath his personal energy.

Though an MRI confirmed no structural injury, Bichette was coping with some irritation within the space and the tendinitis analysis was sufficient to warrant an injured record stint. DeJong, who was activated for Wednesday evening’s sport in opposition to the Orioles, figures to fit in because the beginning shortstop with Bichette on the shelf. 

“[DeJong] is an interesting fit for us [even] without the injury,” said Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins on Tuesday. “He’s hit left-handers relatively well. He’s a very good defender that complements our organizational depth. He has great experiences and I think it heightened the need with Bo’s injury.”
