A spike in overdose deaths within the six British Columbia nations that make up the Tsilhqot’in National Government has prompted the chiefs to declare an area state of emergency.
The Cariboo space nation says in an announcement that poisonous medication mixed with the historic and present-day harms of colonialism are contributing to increased charges of overdose deaths amongst Indigenous folks.
Tribal Chair and Chief Joe Alphonse says within the assertion that medication are a significant downside in the neighborhood, and whereas they really feel like their fingers are tied, they should act to save lots of lives.
