After three years behind bars awaiting trial, Cameron Ortis, the RCMP official accused of breaching Canada’s secrecy legislation, has been launched on bail.
Justice Robert Maranger presided over the bail overview and delivered his resolution in Ontario Superior Court on Wednesday.

Ortis, who served as director common of the RCMP’s nationwide intelligence co-ordination centre, is charged with violating the Security of Information Act. He is accused of attempting to share delicate data with a overseas entity or terrorist group and likewise has been charged with sharing operational data in 2015.
Ortis was briefly launched on bail and ordered to reside along with his mother and father in Abbotsford, B.C., in October 2020, earlier than his bail was revoked. He’s been in custody ever since.
Ortis is scheduled to go to trial in October 2023.
