Ottawa starts consultations on foreign registry list amid China interference allegations – National | 24CA News

The federal authorities has began consultations on the creation of a international brokers registry amid allegations of Chinese interference in Canadian elections and society.

Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino informed reporters in Ottawa on Friday that consultations are open now for communities, stakeholders and most of the people till May 9.

Mendicino was tasked earlier within the week by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to launch public consultations on organising a brand new public registry for brokers who work on behalf of international states, just like ones established in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
