N.B. cabinet minister Shephard resigns amid LGBTQ policy controversy  | 24CA News

New Brunswick Social Development Minister Dorothy Shephard resigned at the moment from the cupboard of Premier Blaine Higgs.

Her two-sentence handwritten resignation letter says she will be able to not stay in cupboard and is stepping down instantly.

Shephard was among the many Progressive Conservative authorities members who disagreed with adjustments to the province’s LGBTQ coverage in colleges.

One main change prevents college students underneath 16 who establish as transgender or nonbinary from formally altering their names or pronouns in class with out parental consent.

Shephard and 7 different members of the Tory caucus — together with 5 different ministers — sat out query interval on June 8 in protest of the coverage.

Higgs has mentioned he stands by the adjustments made to the coverage and that he’s keen to name an election over the difficulty.
