International Trade Minister Mary Ng says she hopes Canadians will see the “sincerity” in her efforts to make amends after breaking the nation’s ethics guidelines.
Ng is testifying earlier than a parliamentary committee which is probing the main points of her violation, which was outlined by the federal ethics commissioner.
Mario Dion dominated final December that Ng broke a piece of the Conflict of Interest Act by failing to recuse herself from the choice her workplace made in spring 2020 to rent the general public relations agency Pomp and Circumstance, co-founded by the minister’s buddy Amanda Alvaro.
The minister apologized after Dion initially launched his report and repeated her apology to MPs on the committee this morning.
Ng says she admits she made a mistake by failing to recuse herself and instructed MPs that she has since organized for the ethics commissioner to ship coaching.
The minister says she is aware of she should “work even harder” in mild of her ethics violation and hopes Canadians will see her “sincerity.”
