Former governor general David Johnston to oversee foreign interference probes – National | 24CA News

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has named his particular rapporteur to supervise a collection of international interference probes: former governor normal David Johnston.

The Prime Minister’s Office says Johnston was appointed after consultations with all events within the House of Commons.

He may have a “wide mandate” to look into allegations of interference up to now two elections and make suggestions to the federal government, the PMO mentioned in an announcement.

Johnston served as governor normal from 2010 to 2017 and at present serves because the Leaders’ Debates Commissioner, which he’ll step down from to tackle the rapporteur position.
