Another N.B. cabinet minister resigns from Blaine Higgs government  | 24CA News

Trevor Holder, who represents the district of Portland-Simonds and was the minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training, and Labour, stated in a letter Friday that he must “do some significant soul searching after a 24-year legislative career.”

“I have served in the Cabinet of 3 separate Premiers. I have always fought for my constituents within a party and caucus structure. My respect for that process has led to better results for my community and my province — until recently,” the letter additionally stated.

“Under the leadership of Premier Higgs, caucus has been less about consensus and more about him getting his own way.”

The Higgs authorities has been embroiled in controversy over modifications to Policy 713, which is able to make it not necessary for lecturers to make use of the popular pronouns and names of transgender or non-binary college students underneath the age of 16.

Members of the LGTBQ2+ group have decried the modifications, expressing concern over its influence on trans youth, and New Brunswick’s youth and baby advocate has described the province’s rationale for the modifications as incoherent.

Holder stated he can “no longer serve in a Cabinet under Blaine Higgs,” although he stated he’ll proceed because the MLA for Portland-Simonds.

“We need to build a thoughtful, conservative movement in this province that brings people together rather than divide them,” he stated.
