120 employees ‘no longer with the CRA’ after review of CERB claims – National | 24CA News

The Canada Revenue Agency says 120 workers are not with the company following an inside overview of workers who claimed the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB).

The CRA introduced the overview course of on June 30, and it has gone over roughly 600 instances up to now. The company provides that the investigations and disciplinary course of proceed.

When the CRA initially introduced the overview course of, it stated 20 workers had been terminated.

“Any CRA employee who inappropriately claimed the CERB will be required to repay the amounts if they haven’t already done so,” CRA spokesperson Sylvie Branch stated in a press release to Global News Friday.

“The CRA takes any form of wrongdoing very seriously, and is strongly committed to protecting the integrity of Canada’s tax and benefit systems and demonstrating to Canadians that the CRA is a trusted and fair organization.”

The CRA was liable for administering the $2,000-per-month CERB when it was in impact between March and September 2020, initially of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Branch’s assertion notes that being an worker of the CRA didn’t essentially make an individual ineligible for the CERB. She notes that the CRA does make use of momentary and contract staff, who may have been eligible, for example.
