Already, the reimagined The Little Mermaid has struck a chord with Disney followers, particularly younger Black women who see themselves in Bailey’s mermaid princess. When the primary trailer dropped in September, Black Disney followers younger and previous praised the movie for its casting. On social media, dad and mom shared dozens of movies of their youngsters reacting to the primary view of Bailey as Ariel.

Sitting immediately in entrance of her TV, one younger woman shouted as Ariel appeared on display screen, and even did a double-take to ensure what she was seeing was true. Writhing with pleasure on the ground, the woman stated, “She’s brown like me. I’m so excited.”
