Buffy Sainte-Marie has introduced that she’s retiring from stay performances.
A press release asserting her choice cited elements together with travel-induced well being issues and performance-inhibiting bodily challenges.
“I have made the difficult decision to pull out of all scheduled performances in the foreseeable future,” Sainte-Marie stated within the assertion. “Arthritic hands and a recent shoulder injury have made it no longer possible to perform to my standards.
“Sincere regrets to all my fans and family, my band and the support teams that make it all possible.”
The legendary singer-songwriter, who’s in her early 80s, recommended in September that performances in Ottawa and Vancouver had been a part of what she stated was “probably going to be her last tour.”

The City of Burnaby stated in a press release that American indie-folk band Fleet Foxes will take Sainte-Marie’s spot within the Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival, which takes place Aug. 12.
The Cree artist and activist has roots within the Qu’Appelle Valley in Saskatchewan and was adopted by an American household from Massachusetts.
In 1982, Sainte-Marie turned the primary Indigenous particular person to win an Oscar as co-writer of “Up Where We Belong” for the film “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
