Raging wildfires in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories have induced “apocalyptic devastation” in these areas, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated Monday.

A state of emergency has been declared in B.C., the place lots of of fires throughout the province have pressured mass evacuations. In N.W.T., all residents of the territory’s capital have been ordered to evacuate due to the specter of an encroaching wildfire.

Wildfires in B.C. and N.W.T shall be a “pressing concern” for federal ministers who’re gathered on the three-day retreat in P.E.I., Trudeau stated.

“We’re continuing to monitor very closely the situation of the fires, both in Kelowna, in Northwest Territories, particularly around Yellowknife and elsewhere. There’s still concerns, but people are working incredibly hard to keep these communities safe.”

On Sunday, Trudeau stated the federal authorities was deploying army property to B.C. and can be serving to with evacuations, staging and different logistical duties.

The Canadian army has already been deployed to help firefighting crews in N.W.T.

An Incident Response Group assembly shall be held afterward Monday to debate the federal authorities’s wildfire response.
