Two brothers collect bottles and cans to buy Christmas gifts for families in need – Kingston | 24CA News

Eight-year-old Bradley Venus and his seven-year-old brother Link have had a busy summer season amassing and gathering bottles and cans of their Kingston East neighbourhood.

Their father, Mcpl. Michael Venus, says it initially began as a result of the boys needed to scrub up rubbish within the space they dwell in close to CFB Kingston.

“I taught them the stories of what I used to do growing up in London collecting empties,” stated Michael Venus.

“They were like, ‘Oh, it’s worth money — what can we do with it?’”

The two brothers, with the assistance of their dad and mom, settled on the the Salvation Army’s Toy Mountain marketing campaign.

“For kids in need for Christmas that don’t get presents for Christmas,” stated Link.

The boys’ objective of elevating $1,000 was shortly exceeded, so that they determined to try to double their whole.

“We’re hoping to hit it. Tomorrow they will count after school how much they’ve raised,” stated Sarah Venus, the boys’ mom.

Whatever that ultimate whole is, will probably be double once more due to a neighbour.
