Nature giveth however hopefully will not — with hotter temperatures forward — taketh away, the architect behind a towering Ottawa snowman says.

Chris Moller took benefit of each the latest dump of moist snow and the assistance of household and neighbours to construct a virtually five-metre-tall snowman outdoors his suburban Kanata house.

The supersized Frosty (it would not have a correct identify but) required extra-big adornments: tennis balls for eyes, hockey pucks for buttons and a backyard planter rather than a conventional prime hat.

“Instead of a scarf, [a] neighbour brought a hammock,” Moller stated. “It was nice having neighbours and people to help me because I could never do it on my own.”

The complete undertaking took about 40 hours, Moller estimated.

“I think it’s amazing,” Barnes stated of the towering snowman. “I want to know how he got it up that high.”

Moller has another addition to make to his entrance yard creation.

“We don’t have arms on him yet,” he stated. “I hope we will get arms on him later if he does survive through the warm snap that’s coming.”

Could hit 9 C by Friday

Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting above-freezing temperatures for the rest of the week and into subsequent week.

“It’s quite a big change that is coming,” meteorologist Gerald Cheng stated. “There is a huge, warmer air mass that’s coming toward Ontario. And that will affect the Ottawa Valley as well.”

Temperatures may attain 9 C on Friday, the company is forecasting. Up to twenty millimetres of rain is anticipated over the weekend.

“You do want to make sure that you get to the shovelling, because the rain is coming and it’s going to make it hard to shovel,” Cheng stated.

Snow round drainage needs to be cleared, he added, as the soften may carry the potential for flooding.

‘Crossing my fingers’

This is not Moller’s first big snowman. He says he is constructed more and more massive snow-people yearly “when the weather co-operates.”

This time, he is hoping tarps will shield his creation from the rain and warmth and assist extend its life.

“I’m not even sure if the tarps are going to save it,” he stated. “I’m crossing my fingers, but we’ll see.”
