The rescue comes as specialists warn of great avalanche danger in backcountry areas throughout the province.

On Wednesday, three German vacationers have been killed in a slide close to Invermere throughout a heli-skiing tour.

“It’s not a time right now to be backcountry skiing. The snowpack is really unstable, it’s really twitchy.”
