On Aug. 1st, Wildman celebrated her a hundredth birthday.

Growing up as the one lady in a home with seven brother, Wildman took after her father, growing a passion for engines.

With preliminary hopes of being an engineer, Wildman joined the Royal Canadian Air drive at 19, with a good friend, eager to see the world.

However, as a result of having a Grade 8 training, she needed to work as a photographer, as her dream job required a Grade 10 training.

“Well, I went into photography not because I wanted to, because they wouldn’t let me go into what I wanted to,” Wildman mentioned.

After six months of fundamental coaching, she went to Vulcan, Alta., the place she helped bomber pilots practice. She recalled her first flight making her really feel queasy.

“I couldn’t have cared if that plane had crashed — I felt so sick,” she mentioned.

When her service got here to an finish, Wildman and the remainder of the ladies’s division of the air drive have been let go. She retired and went on to mom seven of her personal youngsters, with whom she shares her tales, not simply by way of phrase of mouth, however with photographs she took.

“It’s a part of my life that I would do again,” she mentioned.
