As federal and provincial organizations throughout the nation proceed to crack down on TikTok being put in on worker units, Sask. Polytechnic is following swimsuit.
The post-secondary schooling establishment is prohibiting the usage of TikTok on all its institution-owned units, just like governments throughout Canada.
“This decision is due to recent announcements by the Government of Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan, providing a similar direction for all government work phones while the platform is under investigation by the federal privacy commissioner,” Sask Polytechnic stated in a press release.
The University of Saskatchewan, nonetheless, has not but taken the identical strategy.
“We discourage the use of all social media platforms on USask-owned devices, but do not have policies that prohibit such use at this time,” The University of Saskatchewan stated in a press release.
“While we consistently assess a variety of social media platforms, we have not yet determined it necessary to adjust University processes related to USask-owned devices for TikTok at this time.”
At the time of publishing, there isn’t a phrase on whether or not the University of Regina will ban the usage of TikTok on its units, although Global News has reached out for remark.
