Rogers Communications Inc. is relocating round 300 Shaw name centre jobs primarily based abroad to Canada.
The positions will likely be positioned in B.C., Alberta and Manitoba, contributing to Ottawa’s requirement that Rogers create 3,000 new jobs in Western Canada as a part of its $26-billion acquisition of Shaw Communications Inc. earlier this month.
It can also be planning to rent 1,000 extra customer support representatives throughout the nation.
Rogers says all of its customer support positions have been primarily based in Canada since 2020, making it the one nationwide provider dedicated to having its total name centre workforce positioned inside the nation.
Rogers CEO Tony Staffieri says the transfer means clients will likely be served by a workforce with “roots in the communities where they live and work.”
The firm plans to transition all abroad Shaw jobs by the tip of September, with the primary of these name centre positions in place by Canada Day.
