Rare display of northern lights dazzles London, Ont. on Thursday – London | 24CA News

Londoners received a uncommon probability to see the aurora borealis in a single day Thursday as the colorful, pure phenomenon appeared farther south than regular.

Michelle Dzialakiewicz mentioned she was watching tv Thursday when she checked Facebook and noticed a few aurora lights Facebook teams she belongs to gentle up with exercise.

After checking a dwell knowledge website to verify the aurora was seen within the London area, Dzialakiewicz says she travelled simply exterior town limits north of London to absorb the view between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Dzialakiewicz described the show as “incredible.”

“Yesterday, they were a very faint green and I could see a little bit of pink,” mentioned Dzialakiewicz on Friday, including it’s simpler to view the colors via a digital camera than with the bare eye.

While it was not the primary time Dzialakiewicz had seen the northern lights, she says Thursday evening’s show was the strongest she had ever seen them this far south.

“You could see them moving in the sky and dancing. But as soon as you put your camera or (held) your cellphone up, the colours come through.”

According to The Weather Network, there’s a probability the northern lights may return Friday evening in southern Ontario, although it’s unlikely the show will likely be as sturdy as what was seen Thursday evening.

Both #NorthernLights and #AuroraBorealis had been trending on social media Thursday evening as Londoners and others took within the uncommon alternative to see a view that’s sometimes reserved for the territories and northern edges of the prairies.
