The Guelph Humane Society is seeing its share of pets being surrendered by their house owners.
There had been 322 cats and 97 canines introduced into the shelter in 2022.
Executive director Lisa Veit tells Global News these numbers are up in contrast with the earlier 12 months.
“In 2022, we saw 53 per cent more cats coming into our care as surrendered pets relative to 2021,” stated Veit. “For dogs, it was a 33 percent increase.”
